About Gear Rescue Guide
Gear Rescue Guide is an independent publication that tests and reviews gear across three categories: premium audio, backpacking & camping equipment, and fitness wearables.
We started this site after one too many purchases went wrong on marketing alone — headphones that measured great on a spec sheet but sounded flat in the room, a "3-season" tent that leaked in a light drizzle, a fitness tracker whose sleep data never matched reality. Gear Rescue Guide exists to catch problems like that before you spend your money, not after.
Our editorial rules
- Hands-on testing first. We use gear in real conditions — a trail, a workout, a living room — before we write a word about it.
- We say when something isn't for you. No product is right for everyone; every review names who it fits and who should skip it.
- Independent opinions. Affiliate relationships never buy a better verdict — see below.
How we make money
Some links to products are affiliate links — if you buy through them we may earn a commission, at no extra cost to you. That revenue keeps the site running. It does not change our verdicts, and it's why every review tells you plainly when a product isn't worth it. Full details in our affiliate disclosure.
